This time around Angelia Jolie has been replaced by rising star Alicia Vikander.

The film, which hits UK cinemas on Friday March 16, is jam-packed with action.

From death-defying river rapid stunts to insane bike chases – you name it, the gun-loving computer game legend can do it.

Alicia, 29, tried her hand at much of the action, however, some stuff was simply too technical or dangerous for her to perform.

While stunt doubles are commonplace in big budget films, one of Alicia’s is actually a man.

BMX prodigy Kriss Kyle became Lara for the Warner Bros flick – risking his life to portray the iconic character.

Before filming could start, Scottish star had to sit in hair and make-up for hours on end to cover over his countless tattoos.

Chatting to Daily Star Online, Kris said: “Being one of the main stunt doubles for Lara Croft was something that I could've never imagined.

“It was such an amazing experience, being on the set and seeing what really goes into making these movies.

“All the blood and sweat from the stunt team. Those guys are crazy! I have so much respect for what they do everyday.”

He added: “Originally when I got asked to be the stunt double for Alicia I said yes right away without even thinking.

“As the shoot went on the stunts got more and more crazy! This might sound absolutely insane but I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to actually get hit by a car.

“So when they asked me ‘How would you feel about getting hit by a car’ I jumped at the opportunity."

Speaking on the red carpet at the London premiere of Tomb Raider, actress Alicia thanked her female stunt doubles - though kept shtum about Kriss’ involvement.

“The worst part of shooting the film was that Lara is put through a lot of cold water which I quickly found out,” she explained.

"It was tough but I have so many women stunt girls who trained me.

“I got to learn so many new skills but yes it was tough but I’ve always been curious about how they make these onscreen stuns.”

Playing an action heroine in real life is far harder than simply turning on the PlayStation and hitting the triangle and X keys over and over again.

"Needless to say it wasn’t as much fun as what I originally had in mind," Kriss continued.

"I had to get hit by the car four times... each time going right through the windscreen.

"After my 15 years of riding BMX bikes I’ve never felt pain like it.

"My bones were actually aching for days afterwards."

Though Kriss, who recently performed at the opening of Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya's Woodward facility, wasn't put off by the pain.

"All in all I'd do it all again tomorrow and I’m hoping to get a few more parts like this one in other movies in the future," he added.

"Massive thanks to my stunt coordinator Lee Morrison and Alistair Whitton for the amazing experience."
