+ Bicycle Buffs

Colnago, the Italian manufacturer of hi-end road-racing bicycles, recently launched Colnago C64, its latest model and successor to its flagship C60 model, at Peloton showroom inside U Chu Liang Building. The C64 was launched to coincide with -- yes, you guessed it -- Colnago's 64th anniversary. Colnago's C35, C40, C50 and C60 were on display to showcase the evolution of this flagship model. Ernesto Colnago, its founder and namesake, still is very much hands on to this day in this family-owned company of high performance bicycles -- handmade and hand-painted in Italy.

With more than six decades of legacy, Colnago's first shop was opened in 1952. Its name first became synonymous with high quality steel lugged frames that can withstand the demanding conditions of professional racing and his pioneering vision can be seen in his creations through innovative design and experimentation with new materials. Colnago introduced the first carbon bicycle more than three decades ago in collaboration with Ferrari. Colnago today still push the envelope of bicycle design and the C64 is its latest masterpiece.

C64 comes with many improvements. The seat clamp is now integrated into the seat tube to provide a cleaner look and a small aerodynamic advantage. Improvements to the carbon layup and construction has lowered the weight by up to 270 grams in comparison to the C60. The frame is stiffer in the right places and the asymmetric chainstay helps improve power delivery and provide more clearance. While Ferrari is highly regarded as the king of supercars, Colnago shares the same reverence but in terms of high performance bicycles imbued with Italian passion and flair.

Inspect these beauties up close at Peloton showroom.

Mon-Fri 10am-7pm, Sat-Sun 11am-6pm / Peloton Showroom, U Chu Liang Building, Rama IV / http://fb.com/peloton.showroom, 02-632-4489.
