1. The Cedar Tree Farm
This Cardiff pub has both a carvery and salad bar in the restaurant and serves generous portions.
Oh, and for very good kids, the cake and ice-creams are incredible.
The kids' play area has a Wii, Play Station and Gameboys, plus toddlers get their own soft play section.
There is also free wifi if you want to reconnect with the world while the kids are distracted.

2. The Crossways
The Crossways offers the perfect environment to build up a kiddy's appetite. They provide an indoor Fun Factory for the little ones, plus an outdoor play area. The brand new, Dennis the Menace themed, fully supervised play area where there’s a totally amazing tree-house and daily activities Monday to Friday. You can even host your child's birthday there!

3. Heron Marsh
Famous for its chargrilled food served on sizzling skillets, this local pub is great value for money with loads of options for the kids - from chicken curry to desserts like Spongebob ice-cream pots.
And, most importantly for frazzled parents who need five minutes peace, it also has a Wacky Warehouse indoor soft play area.
While you relax, they can dash around the soft play structure and explore aerial runs, cargo nets and astro slides. The toddler area comes with squishy shapes for little ones to play with.

4. Y Maerun, Marshfield
For any little person, this is a dream come true. As well as a nice garden to play in and a small, safe playground, there are also an incredible farm of animals to meet. Kids can meet adorable guinea pigs, chickens and rabbits. Families can also bring their pooches along to Y Maerun for a lovely afternoon out.

5. Ty Nant Inn
This Brains pub offers a wide range of traditional pub dishes and there is also a great choice for kids.
There is a huge outdoor play area with wooden climbing wall, slide and climbing frame – although no ball games are allowed.

6. The Sand Martin
This pub offers something for everybody, whether they're a fussy teenager or a wriggly toddler. As well as an outstanding carvery and a varied pub menu, there is also a Family Zone complete with toddler activity area.

7. Fox & Hounds
A local in Gareth Bale's native Whitchurch, this is a perfect spot for little footballers in the making. In fact, feel free to send them out onto the pub's version of a pitch - a new outside play area.
Kids can enjoy a main course for £3.99, two course for £4.99 or three courses for £5.99, choosing from meals like sausage and onion gravy, cod goujons or bubble battered chicken strips (with two side dishes) and a sweet treat like chocolate brownie or sticky toffee and date pudding for afters.

8. The Black Cock Inn
While many pubs have a children's play area, you don't often come across pets for your children to play with.
The Black Cock Inn is not only in a jaw-droppingly beautiful part of the country, but it also has a secure Family Beer Garden at the rear, which is home to a children's play area and adorable rabbits.
Food on the menu for adults includes 24oz mixed grills, battered cod and battered onion rings, while kids can dine on pasta bolognaise and gourmet burger.

9. Three Horseshoes Country Inn
With a £6.45 Eat and Play option, this family pub has a play barn for children up to 12 years old.
You can also upgrade for £8.95, which includes a meal, drink, ice cream and a sweet mix.

10. The Pantmawr Inn
The pub is entirely surrounded by houses but, built in the style of a coaching house, has a massive beer garden for dry days or hot summer nights.
There is always a guest ale on offer for the parents, while the children can treat themselves to a play on the slides or with a roll around in the grass.

11. Cherry Laurel
The Cherry Laurel is a pub and restaurant catering for the whole family. As well as good parking and a spacious, well-designed interior, they have also included an indoor play area for the under-fives.

12. The Ship
Unleash your children into this Barry pub's indoor children’s play area for kids up to 14 years old. Meanwhile, parents who are sports fans can catch up on the latest updates on the numerous televisions dotted around the pub.
In the summer, it also sometimes has bouncy castles and puppet shows in the car park for added fun. So perhaps give them a call ahead of your visit to double-check.
There are also complimentary balloons for the kids, free activity sheets and they can eat for just £1 every Monday.
