ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Local fundraising group Rock for Relief is back for their second set. The music-based benefit organization has a special concert lined up to benefit Madison County later this month.
Rock for Relief presents: The Black Tie-Dye Ball will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, May 23 at the Orange Peel. The concert will feature the rock band SUSTO alongside local openers Holler Choir and Watkins. Liliana Hudgens will perform during the pre-show.
If you’re wondering what a black-tie dye ball is, Rock for Relief has an easy answer.
“Dress up, get weird,” summarized Rock for Relief co-founder Bryan Zells.
“It’s the rock-and-roll version of a fundraising gala, essentially.”
The Orange Peel show is the second fundraiser organized by Rock for Relief following a massive music festival last November.

That event, Rock for Relief: A WNC Live Music Benefit Festival, united 60 artists across 18 different venues to raise money for charitable organizations in Haywood County. The festival generated over $34,000, donating $10,000 to support local musicians and $24,615.11 to Mountain Projects Inc., a W.N.C. community action agency.
The Black-Tie Dye Ball may be a smaller undertaking than a music festival, but funds raised by the event will support a community with big needs. Madison County, encompassing towns like Marshall and Hot Springs, was hit especially hard by hurricane-related flooding.

“Unless you’re someone that hates a good time and doesn’t like music, in my opinion, there’s no better event that’s going to be going on that night,” laughed Zells. “We have three great bands. It’s for a great cause. You’re helping your community, we’re having fun with it.”
“If you believe in our community, then come support Marshall. Come support what we do, help us grow, help us be able to continue this and have fun,” urged fellow Rock for Relief co-founder Lisa Rose. “We just went through something really hard, and we want to not forget it, but we also want to embrace each other after it.”
