Amazon's annual summer shopping event, Amazon Prime Day, brings a sandcastle bucket load of promotional prices and deals, exclusively to Prime members. These events run for at least one day, extending to two days more often than not.
Launched in July 2015, Amazon Prime Day has become a firm fixture in the global retailer's calendar alongside its autumn sale, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing Day sales and – more recently, its Amazon Spring Deal Days. Prime Day usually features discounts across a wide range of product lines, with exclusive offers for Prime subscribers and some deals available to all.
When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?
Amazon has not yet announced the date(s) of Prime Day 2024. The retailer usually reveals this key detail a month or two before the event, so we can pretty safely assume there'll be no Prime Day before May (and probably not until summer).
Officially, Prime Day marks the anniversary of Amazon's inception. The company launched its US site in July 1995, and the first event with Prime Day branding took place on July 15, 2015, in nine countries. As the years have passed, the timeframe of Prime Day has been extended — first to a 30-hour event, then to 36 hours, then two full days.
For most of its history, Prime Day has taken place in mid-July — except in 2020 and 2023, when the event moved to October, and 2021, when Prime Day took place in June. More often than not, Prime Day sticks to its original mid-July window, and we'd expect this to be the case in 2024.
Prime Day's global reach has expanded over time, with Prime Day events now taking place in over 20 countries.
